Whist we were on a low income, we had no problem with UC, the minute our income boosted, all the elements were stripped including child elements, gotten advice from several agencies telling me that they shouldn’t affect the child element of UC and I should definitely follow up, I was blown off every single time, no explanation other than no element is protected. If you have kids stay in tax credits, don’t switch to UC.It’s the worst thing I could have done.I completely understand if you have a higher income you will not be entitled to a standard allowance or housing element, but I sure did not expect that I wouldn’t be entitled to the child element.They are a joke and they definitely don’t help people, but rather make people worse off than they were.In all honesty UC should be replaced and we should have the option to return to the old style benefits.UC MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER
