Our daughter began to struggle in math because each year there were skills she wasn't fully comprehending and the deficits were gradually piling up. After switching to Unlock Math as a last ditch effort she finally turned the corner. She gained so much confidence as she began to fully understand the skills that she had struggled with previously. She loved the format and is now in her first semester of community college, studying to be a nurse. I truly don't think she would be where she is without the skills and confidence she gained through Unlock Math. The only hard part is that this is a rather pricey program which might make it out of reach for some families - especially if you have multiple students. But for us the cost was 100% worth it!

Added note on rigor and what students benefit from Unlock Math:
When developing our program, it was with the intent of serving the average student or one who had previously been struggling.
Our philosophy is that struggling students do not need the math dumbed down and made easier in that way, but rather they need to be taught in a way that leads to the light bulb moment of realizing that IS within their grasp and ability to not just do well but to do great.
In doing so we created a program that in rigor is less than Art of Problem Solving but doesn't give up anything to any other program on the market. That is why we have gifted programs recommending and using our program for the students that don't do as well with AoPS.
On the other hand we've discovered that we do really well with students that have one or more learning challenges and struggle significantly with math. Some of them have gone on to receive full ride scholarships in large part because of their math scores.
And of course the average student is able to achieve more and go further with our program as well.
