The company tries to do well for their clients, even when things go wrong.

I was sold on UpMatch by a very skilled salesperson who genuinely made me feel like I was doing something bold and necessary for my family. He even encouraged me to make the decision without checking with my wife — not in a manipulative way, but in a “you’re stepping up as a provider” kind of way. And honestly, that got me. I’m not someone who makes rash decisions, but I’d been circling programs like this for years and finally pulled the trigger.Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.Despite the confident claims — like earning $1,000 per job and landing 5 clients a month — I got 5 leads total and made about $200 after spending $600 with UpMatch and another $600+ on Upwork connects (which are not included, by the way). The return on investment just wasn’t there.The “system” is basically:Make a Loom video introducing yourself.Have someone apply to jobs for you daily.That’s it. There’s very little strategic feedback or real coaching. The projects they applied me to often didn’t match my strengths (I don’t even offer graphic design, yet many connects went there).I want to be fair: I do believe some people are having success, and I can also see how a more established agency might make this work. But if you’re a solo freelancer just starting or hoping this will jumpstart your business, I’d caution you to be extremely clear on the fine print.Also — you can negotiate on price. There's definitely room in the pitch for closing tactics.I don’t regret taking a chance, but I do regret that the marketing made it seem like this was a high-probability investment. I think if the company truly believed in the process, they’d offer a real guarantee to all participants — not just larger agencies.Update: After posting this review, the owner of UpMatch, Ali, personally reached out to me. He took time to talk through everything in detail and really listened to my concerns. He’s helping rework my profile and strategy, and I can tell he genuinely wants his clients to succeed. Ali is clearly trying to build something meaningful, and his personal outreach speaks volumes. I’ll update this again down the line based on how things go from here. For now, I do appreciate the renewed effort and accountability.
