Upwork has become a complete scam for freelancers. Not only do they take a 10% cut of your hard-earned money, but they also force you to buy 'Connects' just to apply for jobs. To make matters worse, they now charge 35 Connects ($5+ USD) just to verify your identity.
Think about that: you have to pay them to prove who you are so you can then pay them to apply for a job where they will take another 10%. It’s a triple-dipping scheme that preys on professionals. Their 'US Only' verification is a pay-to-play barrier that is insulting to local talent. Save your money and look for platforms that actually respect developers.
