We gave Urthbox to two of our children…

We gave Urthbox to two of our children for three months as a gift. Here is what one of them had to say about the contents of the three boxes she received:"I’d say there were some interesting things in it, but also some repeat items which was kinda weird. Like we got these chick pea chip puffs multiple times (but I do like them), and sugarless chocolate (less popular) and energy/vitamin shots. Also, I’d advise them to not include the weird energy drinks. We just threw those away. They were like 5 hour energy/vitamin shots or something? Seems like a different market of people who are into organic/ health foods vs energy drinks. It also wasn’t a very large amount of stuff, maybe 4-5 items per box (and some we got in previous boxes). Maybe that is to be expected, but it sorta seems like they just get free samples from companies that want to expand their brand awareness and ship them out haha. Not a super intentional selection. Anyways, fun to try but I wouldn’t really recommend it."Watch out. Even if you are buying a 3 month subscription as a gift they have a requirement that you must contact them to cancel your subscription or it will automatically renew. This is the note that I got initially when I complained:"Thank you for reaching out to support, I would be happy to assist you. I looked into your account and I didn’t see any cancellation requests. Per our terms, unless cancelled prior, all of our subscription boxes do renew on the 1st of every month. This is also made available in bold on the checkout page, terms of service page, frequently asked questions as well as your order receipt email- copy of the original receipt below. What we can do and have done for you is canceled your subscription moving forward so that you are not charged again. June will be the last box that you will receive. Thank you for your understanding of our policies and feel free to reach out with any other questions you have. "After I responded that this was an unsatisfactory response and told them I would contact my credit card company to dispute the charges they did agree to refund the charges. They did imply that it was my fault for not cancelling the "subscriptions". I believe they should offer renewal as an "opt-in" option rather than automatically renewing and requiring communication to opt-out.
