My first - and will be only - experience with Square…A client wanted to pay me via this app. I provided all requested information regarding my business to Square, including all requested documentation (business tax ID, long-term business profiles, etc.), as well as my bank account information. With no explanation, they canceled my account, but then said they were not releasing the $4,000 payment my client had already made for my services … for NINETY DAYS. Clearly the issue was not the legitimacy of the business transaction, or they would have 1. Explained, 2. Immediately refunded the payment to my client, and 3. NEVER agreed to allow the transfer. (What was the “magic” about the 90 days, other than Square simply holding on to my client’s / my money. EXTREMELY disgusted, and will never entrust them with a business transaction again.
