Horrible experience and borderline fraud. I started a small group training studio with my wife and we decided to use square as our payment processor. After collecting a decent sum of payments they decided to deactivate our account without reason and withhold the funds for 90 days. Customer service said they couldn’t give us a reason and the decision is final. We decided to issue a refund to our customers and instead of using the funds frozen in our square account they went into our business bank account and extracted our funds to pay back our customer. There is zero justification as to why they used our money instead of the money they are withholding to pay back the customers. As of right now they have our money that our business has provided services for and also taken money from our account to refund the customer to maintain the balance they decided to freeze in the first place. If you are a small business stay clear of this large greedy corporate that uses AI and algorithms to run it and could care less about your business. Edit: I did call customer service and spoke with Tino who then transferred me to account services where Jim said there is nothing he can do and the system will withhold the original funds regardless of a refund. As of right now you have taken funds from my account and put them back into the square account so the original balance remains the same after refunding my customers. This is blatant theft.
