I have a website that has been using Square for years. A particular product line sold well, so I started a new site based solely on that product line to optimize it more effectively with search engines.I started a new company and signed up with Square—just like my other company. Unlike my other company, Square asked me to upload all kinds of documents. This is no problem; I have all my paperwork in order. So, I uploaded everything they needed. They deactivated my account while I had a $5000 balance. They will not release that money for 90 days. I cannot appeal; managers and supervisors do not take calls from deactivated accounts. So they effectively stole $5000 from me for them to use for the next 90 days. There is NOTHING I can do. If you are a new business - please read this so you know that Square can take your money, and you can do nothing about it. Their decision is final. I am lucky that I can self-finance and wait 90 days for Square to give me my money. Most new businesses would have to close. No decision can jeopardize your business more than using Square. Use stripe or authorize.net if you want to use a company with integrity and good customer support
