I signed up for Square Payroll because it was $6 compared to Gusto of $35 + $6 a month. Well that was a mistake!I ran payroll on Monday and on Tuesday the account was deactivated. After spending 1 hour and 23 minutes on the phone they told me I had to set up a whole new account. (Sounds shady that you need my business information...AGAIN!)They kept referring me to Section 11 about the collection of taxes. I have one Independent Contractor that I pay. According to the tax laws, the IC is responsible for their own taxes. The Square rep informed me that "Square collects the taxes and pays them for me.") *red flag*I was transferred to 3 different departments and no one could tell me why the payroll account was closed except for me to read Section 11.I signed up for Square because Gusto was $35 monthly fee + $6 a month per paid contractor for the services. I found out the $6 a month is for a new customer only and expries in 6 months. So it's a 6-month promo, with the $35 monthly fee waived.I would not recommend using Square at all. I used Square when I first started another business but as my business grew I left them because they were charging for things that were standard on another platform. I left for a year.Lesson learned...again!
