It was my first appointment and when I made the first call to establish that High Peaks would accept my dove as a "new patient", I carefully expressed the importance of this little one to me and my life. When, subsequently, I made the appointment, I reiterated the same importance so that it would be understood (so I thought, shame on me). Sadly, I wasn't familiar with the location so I gave 30 minutes extra time in case I got turned round en route. Indeed, I did. Construction, traffic, incorrect directions, but I persevered. Yes, I did arrive late. No, I did NOT expect other appointments to be delayed. But what I CERTAINLY DID NOT ANTICIPATE IS BEING IGNORED WHEN I ARRIVED, as the 2 "gals" at the desk, fingered papers, sat back comfy in a their chair and when, my presence was acknowledged, I explained my tardiness, humbly and was told, flatly "Oh, sorry you couldn't made your appointment. We're booked solid." Not even the courtesy of asking if I'd like to make another appointment. (Too busy looking busy, obviously.) So I inquired "Am I to understand that I can't make another appointment?" The facial expression, behind a dime-store face mask, was "disgust"! A "consult" had to be held between the 2 "gals" to figure out how, when, which, why, where, &c. another date could be managed. Meanwhile, I was made to feel a complete non-entity!They "care"? (That's what they claim on their web-site.) Not obviously. I'm going to be kind and hope that this is an isolated atmosphere and that it does NOT reflect the general consensus of VCA Animal Hospitals. I WILL try another hospital, over an hour's drive away. But as for "High Peaks" in Ray Brook NY? I will keep this review as gentlemanly as would make my civil parents proud and give the following descriptives of the personnel I had direct, personal encounter with:inconsideratedispassionateunsympatheticcondescendingapatheticnarcissisticI'm just so grateful that I didn't subject my precious little companion to... I dread to even think.
