***UPDATE: I was not simply "contacted" to take my review down. I was asked, then re-wrote it since sure, maybe it was a bit harsh. Then after re-writing it, pointing out the positive parts of my experience, and the fact that maybe the strange Spotify activity even wasn't the company's fault, it was still not positive enough. I was contacted again to take the review down. It sounds like they don't want to accept my experience - so much so they're calling it "not really true". My review is honest and fair. I was clear that I only worked a few days with them. I did not do any other promotion but Vertex's during this period of strange Spotify behavior. I'm still not condemning anyone. But since we're living in this gray area with what happened, I won't say anyone's free of blame either. Will the uphill battle we all deal with daily, and little support in the music industry, artists should be able to represent themselves honestly and fairly on here. So I'm not taking my review down. There are literally 97% positive reviews on here - if you have such success with artists, who rave about you on here; artists who you claim go onto building big fan bases and hitting Billboard charts and all, then I'm not sure why you'd care about my one measly review as a small artist.***REVIEW:I am re-writing my harsh review of my experience with this company, as a) they have since cleared up a few things and b) I want to make it very clear that Sophia, the woman I worked with, was NOT AT ALL why my experience was a negative one. The team at Vertex Consulting was very nice, with good customer service. I actually added a star to my review for the sole reason that my experience could’ve been MUCH worse without Sophia’s quick, clear communication. Kristoffer was great as well. They let me chat with them on WhatsApp, and when any concerns came up, they would even call me sometimes to clear it up.However, I must be honest that despite all that, something felt amiss with my campaign - and it was in the data. I ended up stopping my campaign after 4 days (I should note, they gave me a refund without any trouble). The results seemed odd in multiple ways (locations of listeners, listener to stream to save ratio, etc). It seemed shady. Sophia was transparent enough to send me the ad and some of the ad results so I could see that they DO really utilize Facebook Ads (vs. click farms or something), like they promised. And I appreciated that; she really tried to make me feel comfortable. And what she showed me FEELS authentic… But I still can’t explain the results I saw. And so it still worries me greatly. Specifically around the song they promoted, and specifically since starting my campaign with them. I don’t know how, or why it happened. It could be from something out of their control. Who knows. But, all I know is the suspicious data is still coming in - even 2 weeks post-campaign, and I may even need to take the song down if it continues. I've done no other promotion but theirs. And it’s very frustrating, as I believe it’s negatively affecting how the algorithm interacts with my music.I don’t know with full detail how they targeted my ad (the interests and audience and such). And maybe it works for some people - to be fair, others on here seem to have had a good experience. And they will communicate well with you and refund you if you're not happy. But I’m not sure if I fully agree with their method. Or at least, it doesn’t seem to work for me and my music, and produced results I worry about. They wanted me to take this review down entirely, but I think It’s important other artists know that someone had this experience.
