I am extremely concerned and disappointed by Voyage Privé’s handling of my honeymoon booking departing in 4 weeks.
My itinerary requires transit through Abu Dhabi. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) currently advises against all but essential travel to the UAE, and my travel insurer (Staysure) has confirmed in writing that my policy is invalid if I travel via this route.
This means I would be required to undertake part of my journey uninsured, which significantly alters the nature and safety of the package holiday purchased.
Despite being provided with this evidence, Voyage Privé has refused to offer either a refund or a fee-free rerouting, relying solely on the fact that flights are operating, therefore the trip can go ahead. This does not address the legal position under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, specifically Regulation 12(7) regarding unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances.
I have allowed time for resolution and raised a formal complaint, but the responses received have not meaningfully addressed the impact of FCDO advice or confirmed insurance invalidation.
As Voyage Privé is an ABTA member, I expected a higher standard of customer care and adherence to UK consumer protections.
I have now escalated this matter formally via ABTA and a Section 75 claim with my credit card provider.
I remain willing to resolve this amicably and am requesting either:
A full refund, or
A rerouting that avoids transit through the UAE
I hope Voyage Privé will now review this case properly and provide a resolution in line with their legal obligations.
