I met George Moore one Sunday in June 2025 at his workshop near Duxford. Very pleasant, credible guy, full of enthusiasm for his craft. I ordered 2 tables from him, a dining table and matching console. On 22nd June 2025 I paid over £4000 to him via Monzo using my Amex card. His quoted time for delivery was “around 10 weeks”. On 12th July I contacted him to see how things were coming along as I’d heard nothing, then again on 28th July. He replied saying his whole family had Norovirus. Still no mention of my tables. I contacted him again on 16th August asking for an update & photos. No reply. I contacted him again on 23rd August, no reply. On 30th August I contacted him yet again saying please phone me as I’ve just read some horrific Trustpilot reviews about you. That’s when I should have gone with my gut and asked for a refund. He phoned & said it was a single disgruntled customer who had got their whole family to write dreadful reviews. Stupidly I believed him. I contacted him again on 3rd Sept as still no update or photos. He replied saying his daughter’s nursery wasn’t back yet after the summer holidays and his child minder had a sickness bug so he wasn’t in work. At this point I was really beginning to get concerned about this guy. No update on my tables but he promised photographs the next day. Nothing arrived. What a surprise! Just a load of excuses about the weather reacting with the resin. I asked for a genuine timeframe for delivery. He told me they’d be ready at the end of the month. We went away on holiday so delivery was agreed for Saturday 4th Oct. 15 weeks since paying in full incidentally. I contacted him on 2nd Oct to check delivery to be told he was “getting there” but the wood was intricate & taking longer so fill so it would be another 10 days. On 13th Oct I contacted him to ask for the delivery day to be told his delivery driver was at a hospital appointment & he was waiting for him to confirm. I heard nothing so left a panicked voicemail on 15th Oct. A message back from him said he had Covid. We’re at 17 weeks now!A new date of Sunday 26th Oct was set for delivery. 18 weeks. On 25th Oct I get a message & a photo saying the table was stuck in its mold & would be another few days. On 28th Oct I get a message saying he’s booking delivery in the morning. Hallelujah! He then confirmed on 30th Oct that delivery would be Saturday 8th Nov, mid morning. I took an enormous sigh of relief. On 6th Nov I get a message from him saying “all booked for Sat 8th”. Fantastic I thought. On 7th Nov I get a message saying his daughter has been unwell for 4 days so he’s not been in work. Eh?? Bizzare when he had confirmed delivery just the day before. He added that he’d spent all night in A&E with his son who had injured himself playing football and that he was on crutches now. Oh and the tables required a little more polishing in order to be perfect. The day before delivery!! And 20 weeks since paying in full. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.I am now at the end of the road with George Moore of Wilbraham Wood Design. I have been incredibly patient and understanding but there’s a point where you just feel like a complete mug. Today we raised an investigation with Amex and I filled out the required forms for him to be reported to Trading Standards. George is a scammer and pathological liar. 11th Nov. 2025 - Amex refunded all our money within 24 hours. No quibble. We suspect he’s on a credit card company black list. I have a case number from Citizen Advice with the hope that my case will be passed on to Trading Standards. George has now blocked me on Facebook. Like others I wholeheartedly suspect that his 5* reviews are being written by the man himself. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ENTER INTO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY!!
