We bought a mat for our dahlia beds a year ago to keep cats out and reduce weeding. We only managed to install one bed. We wanted to separate our dahlia tubers but had to wait for the soil to thaw (we're in a colder area, and recent frosts had frozen the top layer). This week, we dug up our dahlia tubers, and to our surprise, the bed with the mat was full of worms, while the other identical bed had none.
