I was referred by my chiropractor for an MRI on my pelvis/SIJ, and received an appointment at Taunton Diagnostic Centre within a few days of being contacted. I admit to being extremely apprehensive about the procedure, as not only am I unable to lie flat on my back without being in some serious pain, I also suffer from claustrophobia. I needn't have worried: the table was covered in a soft mattress, my head was protected by soft foam and was raised, causing less strain on my back. There were also arm resst for my comfort, and a wedge to go under my knees. I felt surprisingly comfortable during the entire scan. As for claustrophobia - a mirror on the ceiling of the tube reflected a screen on the back wall where graphics of a soothing nature scene were displayed, with fluffy clouds, flying birds and moving hot air balloons. This meant that not once did being in the enclosed space bother me.I was looked after extremely well, from the moment I arrived in reception to the moment I left. Sam, Donna and Pravin made sure I was comfortable, relaxed and explained everything very well to me. I cannot recommend the service enough.
