Running hot and cold

This is a review in two parts. Back in November 2022 Greener Homes fitted a new Worcester Bosch boiler and Bosch Thermostat for me to a very high standard. They did the job promptly and efficiently and made repeated visits to fix a problem with the wifi connectivity to the thermostat, a problem which we eventually traced to our Virgin Media router and one which had nothing to do with the installers. They also identified a condensate run off channel which no previous plumber had suggested and which was a brilliant solution. 5 stars plus so far!However, they also found a pre-existing problem with 15mm pipework running to two rads instead of 22mm, meaning that these rads were being starved of water. A very helpful plumber came and explored the issue and I was quoted £600 for pipework replacement, which I accepted. Two different plumbers, new to me entirely, turned up last week to do the job. In fairness to them, the work involved taking up asection floorboards in our main bedroom and our bed and other furniture was still in the room. The two plumbers took one look and couldn't get off the job fast enough. 'Nightmare'. 'This room should have been cleared'. 'Why didn't the previous plumber do the job?' They were not interested in the fact that I had actually cleared out the area they were most likely to be working in, nor that the previous plumber and I had shuffled furniture to give him room to work when he was investigating the issue. With goodwill on their part, the three of us could easily have resolved the problems they were facing. Instead, they made one phone call and left within 5 mins of arrival.To cap it all, the younger plumber was actually quite rude, to the extent that I called him out on it. 'You know nothing about engineering, mate', was one of his replies. His older companion had better lines. 'This is Health and Safety. We can't work here. It's a confined space.' Comedy gold. This is a domestic bedroom we are talking about, not a coal mine. And it was a £600 quotation, not a one-hour pipe connection job, so some element of tackling unexpected problems was built in to the price.Hence the one star. I emailed the owner of the company immediately afterwards, a very reasonable man when I've met and spoken to him in the past, inviting him to ring me to discuss what happened, but he has not contacted me since. I've spent £3000 with this company but clearly my custom has little value. The service contract for the boiler will be going elsewhere. You can make of all this what you will. I've been delighted, disappointed and angered, all by one plumbing company.
