I have stayed at a handfull of Inn Collection hotels during 2024. In the summer, I took advantage of their Walk-Inn deal, staying 2 nights at the Bassenthwaite Inn, where we received a warm welcome (myself, my husband and our greyhound) and a comfortable room on the ground floor overlooking their well kept gardens. The food was alright there (although I wasn't keen on the beef bun we ordered one night which was a slab of tough beef in a dry bun rather than the pulled brisket in gravy that most places I've been to offer when advertising hot beef buns). The three of us also visited the Lindisfarne Inn for an overnight stay later in the year where our greyhound was treated like a superstar. The staff were really pleasant. The room here was in, what I would describe as, motel type accommodation, separate to the main bar/restaurant. We were on the ground floor. The room was spacious enough with a sofa, large bed and usual facilities. This room was not as opulent as other Inn Collection rooms but still comfortable. The food was tasty and a nice selection of drinks. The Ripon Inn, although a lovely spacious building in its own grounds with HUGE rooms and nicely decorated for Christmas was let down greatly by the reception staff who simply decided to ignore me and served people who came in after me while I was waiting by reception. It was more of a dog tolerant hotel than a dog friendly hotel. Not all items advertised on the menu were available either. I was particularly upset about this place as it was a treat for my Mam's birthday and I was expecting the same experience ( or similar) to what I'd had in other Inn Collection hotels. The Stables in Whitby, however, never failed to impress. On the outskirts of Whitby with a beautiful view, the room that my Aunt and I stayed in was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful and the food!...Oh my word!! I was so impressed with this place that I've booked again with my husband and dog. And, one of our families favourites, the Seaton Lane Inn close to Seaham, County Durham. This one and The Stables actually each get a 5* from us. We've been on several occasions, the staff are always so lovely and the rooms nice and cosy and the food is tasty. I particularly love breakfasts here with the best tasting filter coffee, and such a relaxed atmosphere.I look forward to returning to some of these hotels as well as trying out some new ones in the collection. We recommend the £99 winter deal. It's great value for money.
