This review is about the SolarMax XL GPS tracker. The unit seems to work good and this I am pleased with. The charging cord is a joke! the device arrived with less than 15% power. Rather than let the device charge via the solar panel, I used the charging cable. The charging cable is is very short! The worst part, it does not actually securely connect to the GPS tracker. It's a magnetic connection. The magnets are so weak it will not secure to the device. I emailed support as I thought I may have received a defect. I was advised this is normal.... I was advised that Lonestar has asked the manf to look into the issue numerous times and they have not addressed the issue. I was told to use tape to secure the cable to the charging port. I find this shocking to sell a device with a know engineering flaw and not disclose this to buyers. I also had a few questions and was told an engineer would contact me. Do not expect a call back as other reviews have reported. Buyer beware on this unit as it will be sold with defect without full disclosure. I am glad I only purchased one for testing as my needs for a reliable unit are many! Imagine buying an iPhone with a charging cable that doesn't actually connect only to be told by Apple, we know, just tape the connector to the phone....Updated, In regards to the cable, it may be useful to call this out in your white pages (diagnostic cable not meant for charging unit). Regardless, it does not attach to the device without an external way to hold it to the device, ie: tape as suggested. I did finally receive a call, thank you which I could not take at the time.
