I purchased from Oby Paris not knowing where the company was located. Because of the name I thought it was a European company. Only when I got the shipping confirmation, I realised that the goods will be shipped from China! And I was not able to find an address on their website. Once the goods arrived I inspected the jewellery and noticed that one of the earings was crooked. When I reported the issue, I was told that it is a design feature. It is true that the other hoop earing had a slight curve, but the earings were not identical. One was very slightly curved and one was crooked. When I pointed out that the earings are poor quality as they are not identical and that I wanted to return them, the reply was that I have to pay for the return shipment as poor quality is apparently not covered by their return policy! I was very angry about the response but still proceeded to buy a DHL label and fill in the customs form (which is an absolute pain for end customer who have no experience) as I wanted to get my money back. Only after I provided the tracking ID to the customer service (as requested), I was told that I should declare an amount below 20 dollars. After I had already paid for the label and filled in the declaration form! And I'm glad I didn't do it! Now the parcel is stuck in customs or lost and I had to request a investigation by DHL as there has been no update since two weeks. So beware when you purchase from Oby! If you receive items of poor quality, you will be left with all the costs. And the first and only positive review on trust pilot is by Olivia Lopez. What a coincidence that it is also the name of the owner.Update 10.04.2025After contacting DHL I found out that the parcel was stuck in customs and that the recipient had to contact DHL/the local carrier.I informed OBY and they got back to me telling me that I have to pay 53$ customs fee. I'm an end customer and I'm clueless about customs. OBY told me declare a super low value AFTER I had already purchased the DHL label and transferred the customs declaration form to DHL!After complaining they offered me to take over half of the customs fee but they will still deduct the 'shipping fee'. Today I received the refund: 68 $ deducted. I did read the return policy before I ordered and I assumed the shipping fee is the fee for a RETURN SHIPMENT. Nope, it's some return processing fee. So in total it cost me over 100 $ (45 € DHL, 15 $ shipping fee, 53 $ customs) to send back a crooked earing to China.Learn from my mistake and do not order from this company if you live in Europe!
