Avoid unless you're prepared to spend large sums on replacement collars!

The tech and product really are excellent and works really well when all the conditions are right. The problem with pet tracer is that you sign yourself up to a 2 year subscription that cannot be cancelled and you can guarantee that you will lose the collar on more than one occasion. Because of the safety feature of the collar, it easily snaps open when caught on something which we like as it means reducing the risk of harm to our cat. We have had to put the search mode on and have managed to find the collar at least 6 times in a month so be prepared to go on a collar hunt often! Despite the flashing feature, the collar is dark so blends in with the earth which makes it incredibly difficult to find during the day. It would make more sense the collar being brighter to make it easier to find when lost. Inevitably we finally lost the collar for good last week despite spending 2 hours trying to locate it. When we went on the pet tracer site to replace the collar we found a replacement cost over over £100! That is truly extortionate and because of the length of subscription (I'm only 2 months in) you are held to ransom to either spend a large sum to replace the collar or continue paying for a redundant subscription of £13/month. The company are clearly clever at trapping you into this commitment model and on reflection wish we never went with them now. The replacement cost should not be this inflated. The benefit of pet tracer is that the collar is slimmer and lighter than the alternatives but with the hassle of it frequently getting lost and then having to pay a ridiculous replacements cost because of being tied into a 2 year contract, you're better off using another product. Definitely feels like being tied to a restrictive and onerous contract that feeds off the fears of dedicated per owners. A bit like a bad marriage.If you are looking for a gps collar, I would skip this one unless they reduce the terms of the contract and reduce the cost of a replacement collar.
