I started ordering from Brot Box over a year ago and absolutely loved their products. Our most recent order was in transit too long, arrived with 4 melted dry ice packets, and bread that was no longer safe for consumption. When I contact the company, I received prompt service, offering to refund or replace. I explained that I loved their products and really wanted a replacement. The replacement order arrived 4 days later, after yet another delay. This time there were only 2 dry ice packets, rather than 4, and, of course, they were melted. The contents of the box were warm to the touch and promptly discarded. Reaching out to the company resulted in a very different experience this time. I pointed out the discrepancy in the amount of dry ice and was told that each order is weighed and packed with the appropriate amount. (But, the weight of the order hadn't changed). I was also told that the contents are designed to remain fresh during transit. (Not sure what was being implied. I had been told to discard the first delayed delivery. Were they expecting me to use the second batch of spoiled goods?). I was finally told that nothing more could be done since I had already received a replacement shipment and they had already issued a reimbursement. According to the email signature, I had been conversing with the same person, but I rather doubt that. Curious approach...I would have expected a coupon for further purchases or more concern over losing a customer. As a German prof, I spread the word about my experiences with these companies. I guess I'll be taking my business back to Bread Village.
