A group of us went for an evening meal . The ambiance was lovely, and I had high hopes. The serving staff were friendly and obliging. For both of those, I would give 4 stars.I ordered a brisket cottage pie. Although presented beautifully, it was incredibly salty, to the point where I had to drink water in between mouthfuls. The gravy was overly thick, and tasted and looked like it had been made using gravy granules. Considering the meal was highly priced, I would have expected a home made, flavoursome gravy.Overall, the prices seemed high for the main meal portion sizes. However, the deserts were lovely, and good sized portions. I had a crumble, which was very tasty. The manager was overly familiar, and joined us at our table twice, chatting to us. We were having a reunion, so did not appreciate the interruption. I can only guess he was trying to move us on, as we were the only ones left in the restaurant.
