I ordered an Aldabra tortoise for $900 Thursday. My payment did not process on the site. I used the contact field & asked what I needed to do, to get the tortoise shipped to Georgia. Tortoise Mart responded w/ a text. I spoke w/ Howard Holt. He took down my address & asked me to send the $900 through CashApp. I asked how long it would take the tortoise to arrive & would the package have a heat pack because of the cold weather. Holt assured me that the tortoise would arrive overnight (Friday) and the heat pack would be included. Late that same night I was contacted by what seemed to be the airline shipping my tortoise. I was informed that the tortoise was being shipped in a very small ventilated package without a heat pack. The airline refused to send the tortoise if I did not send an extra $2k for a bigger crate, food, and vaccines. The extra fees were not communicated w/ me when I purchased the tortoise so I contacted Holt w/ Tortoise Mart & asked for a refund. He implied that he did now know of the extra fees either. He asked me to send him the emails I received from the airline, which he called an agency. After reviewing the info he pointed out that the fees were refundable. I asked Holt if he would be covering the extra fees. Holt said it was the buyer's responsibility. I restated that I wanted a refund because I didn't have the extra money to spend regardless if it's refundable and would like a refund. He told me to sort it out with the agency and stopped returning my texts. I have not received a refund.
