I had an admittedly shaky experience, but the team was able to course correct and deliver a personal website I can be proud to share. I reached out to them to create a gallery and blog to showcase art for a personal project, something that would require more complex functionality than I could do myself with a DIY option like Wix or Squarespace, which I've used in the past. I was active in the design phase and provided many of the site's graphics, but they were the ones that ultimately brought my vision to life.Unfortunately, development stalled considerably in the middle of the process. The developer I had been working with went radio silent for about a month (fortunately I wasn't under a deadline for this work). This was frustrating and a bit bewildering, and just when I was deciding whether to cut my losses, I was abruptly reassigned to another member of the team.After that, the difference was night and day. The new dev working with me was much better about communication and much faster at getting the work done. I sent him several pages of notes to pick up where the last dev had left off, and within a week or two the site went from a skeleton of temp graphics to fully functional! It's no understatement to say he saved this project, and while I don't have a great deal of clarity on the previous dev, I suspect he is no longer a member of the team.Drama aside, the conclusion of this project has me much more hopeful about continuing to work with this studio. I didn't need anything super flashy, but they were able to hit some of my very specific requirements (and also communicated well when some feature requests would require additional cost to support). Beyond the design of the site itself, they've handled all the backend setup for a custom domain name, web-hosting, etc. that is well beyond my expertise.
