I’ve been a member of 1610 in Dorchester for over a year now for the swimming. To find a decent 25m pool is getting harder these days, so great that they provide it! The pool is well kept and normally there is space in the lanes for all standards, and rarely unable to book a session at the time I want.Booking through the app (when you’re a member and have switched off the other venue options) is easy, and you can tell how busy the lanes will be by seeing how many have booked and if another pool class. There’s also plenty of parking, though being alongside a school can make it a bit busy getting there at drop off/pick up.Staff are generally happy and helpful when you speak to them, and the best welcome you with a big grin as you come in the door. The facilities are a little tired, but always clean.I keep meaning to try the gym or a class, but not done that to date, so can’t comment on those. The reason it loses a star is the management of the pool on the day can be a little awkward sometimes. For example:- sometimes people are swimming in the wrong lane and slowing others down. I don’t have a massive problem with that until they just plough on and refuse to let the faster swimmers through leading to frustration and people overtaking. The lifeguards should step in a little more here where it’s clearly a persistent issue in the session.- sometimes if a new session is starting they will rearrange the pool and the fast lane becomes the slow lane and there’s often no way of knowing until another swimmer lets you know. - sometimes people leave clothes in the cubicles rather than in the cupboards provided. The passive aggressive in me is getting to the point I’ll start handing these into reception as “lost property”That said, I understand that this can be a tricky area and overall I’m happy with the experience, and no intention of cancelling my membership
