1-800Accountant make a compelling offer to small businesses like mine by claiming to handle all your business tax and paperwork issues for you. However, I just terminated my business relationship with them because:
1) They made significant filing and incorporation mistakes and then would not take ownership of correcting those mistakes so I had to reach out to the IRS directly and advise the IRS that 1-800Accountants made errors that needed to be corrected.
2) They did provide a "dedicated" rep who lived two time zones away and who did a half-ass job "supporting" me and my business. I say half-ass because a) it was nearly impossible to actually call him and have a live conversation with him and b) it was difficult to get straight answers to very direct questions and c) I advised I wanted a call to review my taxes before anything was filed and that request was completely ignored, and d) they messed up the spelling of my last name and then advised there is no way they could fix it so I ended up having to file tax docs with my own last name misspelled. UNBELIEVABLE!
3) You cannot get a "real" email for most staff. They hide behind goofy email addresses so if you want to email a specific person, there is no way to do that. You are forced to send emails to a generic email to a generic email address and hope someone qualified responds. It is also impossible to get a person's direct phone number.
4) They tried to upsell me on multiple additional services.
5) Worst of all, you cannot even cancel directly online. You have to submit an email to them and advise them you are cancelling ... TOTALLY RIDICULOUS! It's as if they think they are doing you a favor: BUDDY, I pay you, therefore, you work for me! Not the other way around.
In short, there are other firms out there that I am sure can do a much better job protecting your business. Look for them, find a good one, and use them!
