Filing for resolution.
⸻
To Whom It May Concern,
I am submitting this formal complaint regarding a failed international delivery order placed with 1-800-Flowers, which reflects systemic service failures, misrepresentation, and unacceptable consumer harm.
Order Background
• Order Date: January 5
• Requested Delivery Date: January 10
• Delivery Location: Germany
• Recipient: My daughter (address and phone number were provided)
• Purpose: Important personal occasions
• Order Status: Never delivered
Despite the clear delivery window and ample lead time, the flowers were never delivered.
Repeated Failures and Misrepresentation
From January 10 through January 18, I made numerous attempts—via text and customer service—to determine the cause of the failure and to secure resolution. Throughout this period:
1. I was repeatedly told that customer service representatives had contacted the German florist “multiple times,” yet no resolution ever occurred.
2. I was informed that 1-800-Flowers has no direct contact information for the international vendors it does business with, relying instead on an internal messaging system with no accountability.
3. I proactively provided my daughter’s phone number in case pickup or delivery coordination was required. She was never contacted.
4. On January 18, I was told—without evidence—that delivery had been “attempted,” despite neither myself nor my daughter receiving any notification, call, or message.
5. Immediately following this assertion, I was offered a refund, effectively closing the matter without explanation or accountability.
Consumer Harm
While I was ultimately refunded the purchase price, the refund does not begin to compensate for the actual harm incurred:
• I spent approximately $5,000 in billable professional hours attempting to resolve a problem caused solely by your company’s failure.
• The flowers were intended for time-sensitive, meaningful occasions, and the opportunity was permanently lost.
• I relied on representations that 1-800-Flowers could competently manage international fulfillment—representations that proved false.
Systemic Concerns
Based on this experience, I have serious concerns that:
• 1-800-Flowers markets international delivery services it cannot operationally support.
• Consumers are not informed that there is no direct vendor accountability or communication.
• Refunds are used as a post-failure substitute for performance, rather than as a remedy for isolated issues.
If 1-800-Flowers lacks direct control or contact with its international vendors, then numerous consumers may be similarly affected, raising broader consumer-protection concerns.
Requested Action
I request:
1. A written explanation of why this delivery failed.
2. Disclosure of how international vendors are managed and supervised.
3. Confirmation of what safeguards exist to prevent this from recurring.
Absent a satisfactory response, I will consider escalating this matter through formal consumer-protection channels, including regulatory complaints and evaluation of broader consumer remedies.
This letter is submitted in good faith, but it also serves as a formal record of your company’s failure to deliver contracted services and the resulting harm.
