I joined 48.ie expecting modern 5G speeds, but the reality is a joke. Despite paying for the €12.99 plan, be warned: your first month actually costs €25.98 because they force an additional €12.99 "activation fee" on you.
Also they advertise free month for new customers but hold on theres a catch. You need to actually order the free sim within promotional period so dont think its for new customers who actually buy new plan within promotion period. Its the free sim order date (t&c).
The performance is abysmal. On a 5G plan in 2026, I am getting less than 2Mbps download and under 1Mbps upload. After navigating a maze of bots to finally reach a human agent, I spent over an hour being guided through "troubleshooting." Their expert solution? Switch my phone to 4G. I did exactly as advised, and the speeds stayed exactly the same totally unusable.
Other advices was to fully reset all network settings which deletes stored connections, data pairings etc which would create many more problems without guaranteed solution. I declined.
Another advice was to try on another phone. I dont have it.
To top it off, I was given a ticket number and told I wouldn't even get an update for 4 to 5 working days. I’ve already cancelled my auto-renewal within the first hour of joining. If you value your time and need actual internet, look elsewhere. 48.ie is not delivering what they advertise.
