Experience of booking through Agoda - Never trust
In January 2026 we planned a family trip to Spain - clubbed with Tulip gardens of netherlands. As an experienced traveller we did most of the bookings on our own for this trip scheduled in first week of April.
As my sister was more versatile using available travel platforms for booking, she used agoda platform to do most of our hotels stay as well as local sightseeing trips be it at madrid, saville, granada, Barcelona and Amsterdam.
While at most of the hotels and local tour companies, we could do advance booking without making any payment, for Hotel Vincci La Rabida Seville/ Spain required full booking amount as an advance for our 3 nights stay there with a full refund promise if booking was cancelled 15 days prior. Unfortunately due to escalated War situation between USA- Isreal- IRAN , we decided to cancel our this long awaited trip in mid March as our international flight was via Abudhabi which is badly hit in war and lit.of uncertainties had prevailed related to flights schedule and cancellation.
As we decided to cancel our this trip, all cancellations were taken up so was it for Hotel Vincci La Rabida, Seville exactly prior to 15 days citing genuine reason of war situation and international travel advisory issued to avoid international travels unless required.
While we could do all our cancellation without any hassles, our fully prepaid amount of Rs 95000/- made for our booking at Hotel Vincci La Rabida Seville made through Agoda was stuck. The hotel refused to refund a single penny even when the cancellation request was made exactly on 15 th day prior to booking date. Inspite of repeated requests made to Agoda customer care, citing genuine reason war, the condition that hotel had violated, we didnot received any refund or credit of the advance amount that we had paid.
The hotel through agoda started demanding different documents in support of the reasons cited for cancellation of booking everytime we made a request in order to not make us any refund payment.
Agoda as a service provider platform didnot ensure that booking condition is fulfilled by its hotel partner. So if you ever choose to use this platform for any of your travel needs, be ready that the booking conditions may not get fulfilled and can get violated by Agoda’s partner companies!
