I have plenty of proof of the incident with 311 reports, local news articles, emails from my building, etc.The insurance got back to me 2.5 weeks after submitting and they denied approval even though it is clearly listed in the message as an approved Listed here in policy:"The following Unforeseen event is added to the TRIP CANCELLATION benefit: (b) the Insured’s or Traveling Companion’s Primary Residence is made Uninhabitable, or the Destination is made Uninhabitable or Inaccessible, by Natural Disaster (other than a hurricane), fire, vandalism, or burglary;Uninhabitable means:(4) the property is without electricity, gas, sewer service or water; or..."I do not take $900 lightly and would not have canceled it if I didn't see my reason in the policy. I would have gifted the hotel stay to someone, called the hotel to try to reschedule, etc.
