Rude staff at Purley Way storeI always buy x2 or 3 cases of oat milk due to allergies and intolerances within my household. Yesterday the guy at the self serve check out saw my trolley and instantly said, Sorry, we can only sell you 1 case (8cartons). I asked why and he said because it’s always been like that and 1 case is the maximum they can sell me. I explained that I always buy 2 or 3 cases and be insisted that I was wrong. I asked for him to call the store manager and he walked over to help another customer then came back to me and claimed that someone in his ear had told him that I cannot have the milk. I asked where the person was and he lied and said that she had conveniently left the store (end of shift) after they said it. I called him out and said I want to hear for myself because I have never had this issue before and if this was the case, why is this not stated within the store or on the shelves. He then showed me a pile of tins, milk and packets of food which he said had been taken from other customers because they attempted to bulk buy and they had to take them away from them. Eventually he called the store manager who repeated that I can only have 1 box of 8 max. I asked what is the point because I could easily buy 1 and come back to buy more, he went on to say that I need to put the items back and that if I attempted to come back to purchase more he would tell his staff not to serve me. He then proceeded to grab the milk out of my trolley. I told him to leave it and my aunt who was with me can buy a case separately and they cannot stop that! He then walked away. The whole situation could have been avoided if they simply had signs to tell people that they have a maximum purchase limit in their store and would also save myself and all the other people whose shopping had been confiscated the embarrassment.This was my first and will be my last visit to the Purley Way store.I haven’t had this issue anywhere else before. We go through 8-10 cartons per week between us as a family of 6 and Aldi is out of the way for us so it is convenient to buy what we require. Also customer service have told me that they have had several complaints regarding this same issue yet nothing has been done to rectify it. Ridiculous!!
