Words cannot explain how awful they are. I rented through them and upon doing the viewing they said they would fix a mould situation that was in one room and fix some broken furniture before we moved in. This was never done and we kept asking and it took months. The process of referencing was soooooo long, longer than any I've experienced begore. It was filthy when we moved in, and they expected us to pay for cleaners when we moved out. The mould was so bad that the entire walls were crumbling, all the electrical wires were so damp that they all had to be ripped out and replaced which the landlord refused to pay for for weeks so we had no electricity for ages. I ended up paying for it myself. We got so ill constantly from the mould and their solution was to leave all the windows open at all times and the heating on at all times which was very unsafe as we were a ground floor flat and also a waste of money. When the plumbers/builders/decorators came to look at the place they were horrified and advised us to contact the council because it was structurally awful and unsafe and also the mould was so bad that all our belongings were being destroyed. The landlord refused to pay for anything to be fixed to a proper standard (just had mould wallpapered over but the walls were so mould that the wallpaper wouldn't even stick or dry to it). There was a leak under the bath which had obviously been leaking long before we moved in and someone just put a baking tray underneath it. Then that rusted and disintegrated. Alex Neil got fed up with the landlord not paying for anything so they said they no longer were going to manage the property, just the rent. Which meant the landlord who lived abroad was going to deal with all the issues we had despite not seeing the flat for years. We said we wanted out of the contract because we signed it with Alex Neil not the landlord. They told us we could leave but then changed their mind, they gave us loads of false information then took it all back. It was a nightmare. They then started doing viewings with only 20 minutes notice meaning we were at work and had no way of getting back to the flat to clean or put away our expensive items safely. They would leave lights on after viewings wasting our electricity. One time out front door broke meaning we couldn't close it and it took them days to fix it.... It was ridiculously unsafe. They would act as if they were really trying to help us when we emailed or called but really they did not care at all.
