My family visited Almost Famous Great Northern in Manchester on Friday Night and we were seated in the furthest table in the restaurant with a badly placed huge speaker directly above us.I work in Audio Visual so I am used to loud noises but knew it was wrongly placed. You could barely hear each other so we asked to move. The lady was very terse and said that there are speakers all over the restaurant and reluctantly agreed to move us.Surprise surprise the table we moved too was much better and you could hear what the next person was saying. In fact everywhere else in the restaurant was more audible when you spoke. We ordered our food and 4 identical cocktails. We also asked if we could have a jug of water whilst we waited. After a 20 minuite wait a member of staff came over to the table carrying just 2 cocktails and informed us that the machine needed a further 20 minuites before he could bring another 2 cocktails over.I explained that we were happy to wait as we wanted all the drinks at the same time and that we could have the water in the meantime. He seemed very instant on us keeping the 2 cocktails as he now didn’t know what to do with them.So insistent that it left us feeling like we had done something wrong. It spoilt the whole mood. After another 10 minutes I had to get up and ask for the water which had still not arrived. We were just about to get up and leave without eating when our food arrived, so we stayed to eat our cold chips and mediocre burgers but did not stay long in the restaurant. We had planned to have many drinks. They even had the cheek to put on a service charge which I swiftly asked to be removed. All in all a dreadful eating experience.
