At the beginning of the year I canceled my AMEX account that I had had since the turn of the century because AMEX became ageist and unresponsive. My 79 year-old wife mistakenly ordered a $177.95 product that was shipped through Cartpanda. I mailed the unopened product to the return address. After a great many calls and disputes filed with AMEX, it refused to refund the $177.95 because we (I'm 81) did not follow Cartpanda's return policy-that neither of us knew anything about. We're both Technically challenged so I doubt we could have followed it if we had known about. AMEX's customer service reps were unfailingly polite-Cartpanda's never were-but still we got nothing from AMEX. I never objected to paying AMEX's annual fee, but after this experience I never again will, and urge others not to. As retired on fixed incomes, we still feel violated.
