A company is only so good as the people it employees, and my personal experience is that they are a dirty, dishonest, cowboy outfit that somehow managed to land a major contract with Bromford Housing Association 10 years ago, allowing them opportunity to conduct themselves in an ugly manner towards vulnerable people, causing unfair levels of distress. The fitters turned up in a Safestyle van and 2 guys took 2 short days to fit 12 windows and 3 doors, mostly working independently and non of this is adequate for ensuring safe removal of old windows and doors, proper inspection of surrounding structure, or correct fitting. I’ve had far too many issues ranging from blatant in your face to “it’s discreet let’s hope she won’t notice” from day one and they’ve had 3 opportunities given where I’ve specially asked for them to check over their own works to identify and rectify any issues. They failed.
Only remedying (badly) blatant issues that I’d already personally noticed. They try to palm off things as simply aesthetically unpleasing but due to the repeat lack of integrity and displays of dishonesty which I’m more sensitive to due to CPTSD and neurodivergence, I have sought answers to these things myself and found that certain things are often used by botch job cowboy outfits to hide mistakes. Standing in my house and lying to me or insulting my intelligence isn’t going to get me to shut up. Sending an email that is written in a way to suggest I’m impossible to please, and stating that 2 Bromford guys and an Anglian guy attended to inspect and found all was okay and that you were happy to sign off on the works and that because I’d used “Frankenwindow” to describe a window and “farce” to describe the 8 month and ongoing situation, you’d reached an impasse. That’s discrimination, I have ADHD and we are known to have a way with words and seriously come on, think old skool Frankenstein’s monster with the bolts sticking out of his head, that is literally what the window looked like with the screw hanging out, but somehow that “use of language and view of the company” hurt your little delicate baby sensibilities and that was enough for you to reneg on confirming that the front door frame needed replacing a third time. Add to that the fact that post receiving that email, I discovered underneath the living room window ledge (outside) a decent sized gap running the whole length with 3 screws exposed, and one not screwed into anything at all. Build Reg Fail. You did not, infact, inspect anything in a way that I couldn’t have gotten my late pal Helen Keller to do for me. The fact that 2 Bromford guys and an Anglian guy attended the first time post alleged remedial works and were all happy to sign off on it just means that you are all equally incompetent. As a contractor for Bromford you are held to account for your sloppy works, attitude and treatment of residents and will be accountable to Bromford, Housing Ombudsman case pending. I just hope that others look more closely at their windows and doors, including excessively wide casing trims, particularly where none or minimal was present on the windows they replaced, they are likely hiding things such as but not limited to, incorrectly measured windows, badly fitted fixings, lack of adequate sealant, incorrect type of sealant, damage they’ve caused, incorrectly prepared brick/mortar/masonry around the outer frame, etc.
When you have installers that trample over a wildflower patch, trash a plant in your front garden, break a hedgehog house, leave windows unclean with suction marks to boot, leave plastic packaging on that literally says “remove immediately after fitting” you can be certain that they have paid as little attention to the inner workings of your windows and it is going to cost you in the long run.
If it doesn’t look right to you and the situation feels off, don’t assume the people meant to be experts will do a proper job of inspecting or that they’ll act with integrity or honesty.
To note that they fitted my kitchen windows without trickle vents and I’ve been told it’s because I have a mechanical extraction fan, but 2 of the 3 windows had pre existing trickle vents which I can photo evidence so according to the Building Regulations Approved Document F, the replacement windows should have had trickle vents too. The only exception is mechanical extraction fans WITH HEAT RECOVERY which is absolutely not the same thing nor what is in my kitchen. Everest who is Anglian (Ace Ventura Einhorn situation) state it clearly on their website for anyone confused by Approved Document F
