Stay away from Animal Friends. In my experience, this company will find any possible way not to pay a claim when you need them most.
They placed a blanket exclusion on my dog’s policy without a confirmed diagnosis. A heart murmur alone was treated as enough to remove cover for all heart-related conditions, even though there had been no proper investigation to determine what was actually wrong.
This is what can happen with their policies — early symptoms can be used to trigger exclusions that leave you completely unprotected.
When my dog later developed serious heart disease, our claim was refused. We lost our dog and were left paying over £5,000 in treatment costs ourselves, despite paying premiums every month in good faith.
I feel this company does not exist to support pet owners — it exists to collect premiums and find technicalities to avoid paying claims. I would never recommend them to anyone who actually wants real protection for their pet.
