Stay Away From Animal Friends – They Will Not Pay Your Claim
Stay away from Animal Friends. In my experience, this company will find any possible way not to pay a claim when you need them most.
They placed a blanket exclusion on my dog’s policy without a confirmed diagnosis. A heart murmur alone was treated as enough to remove cover for all heart-related conditions, even though there had been no proper investigation to determine what was actually wrong.
This is what can happen with their policies — early symptoms can be used to trigger exclusions that leave you completely unprotected.
When my dog later developed serious heart disease, our claim was refused. We lost our dog and were left paying over £5,000 in treatment costs ourselves, despite paying premiums every month in good faith.
I feel this company does not exist to support pet owners — it exists to collect premiums and find technicalities to avoid paying claims. I would never recommend them to anyone who actually wants real protection for their pet.
A very responsive company. I submitted my claim via my local vet and was repaid the same week.
Also, the information on the insurance documents are very clear, which helps hugely!
I cant recommend this insurance company enough, I have the platinum insurance package which covers pretty much everything including dental. When my boy was just 8 months old i was told he had luxating patella the operation was going to cost £2,500 if we hadn't had insurance i dont know what I would have done. The vets invoiced them direct i didnt even have to deal with it. 7 years on he got diagnosed with diabetes again this would have cost us thousands, i have complete peace of mind that the claims will always be dealt with i am able to focus on the care of my dog never having to worry about the cost. I am so gratful to them and would highly recomend them to anyone.
Been with animal friends almost a year now. Put a claim through which they declined as a pre-existing condition, which was totally wrong! After a lot of stress and pursuing the claim they finally apologised and reimbursed me...very quickly I might add! Caused a lot of stress but all came good in the end
Animal friends have been fast and efficient with all claims. Easy to do online claims for repeat medication and vet has no issues placing claims on our behalf with their system. Thank you.
I've been with Animal Friends for dog insurance for a while and only just had to make a claim. Not only was I notified every step of the way, there was no quibbling or messing about. It was submitted and paid out with a three day turn around. This makes it possible for me to continue the care my dog requires as I know I won't be fighting two battles. Absolutely brilliant insurance. When your pet is sick you just need to focus on your pet, Animal Friends lives up to its name.
I honestly can not thank this insurance company enough. My pet Luna nearly died from toxic shock eating Lillie's. Between the insurance company and the vets they have gone above and beyond to make sure that she has received the best treatment and care and everything has run so smoothly. The agents that you speak to are so lovely and caring and sound genuinely concerned for your pet at a time when it's needed most. The monthly fee I pay is so reasonable for the amount of cover given which is the superior package. I honestly can not recommend this company any more. Thank you
Thoroughly unpleasant company, as soon as you make a claim for your pet they put exclusions into your policy to stop you claiming again in the future. My complaint was dealt with by telling me that as my pet had passed away now it doesn`t really matter ! £150 goodwill compensation and complaint escalated onto Head of Complaints, haven`t heard anything since 24th November 25. They don`t care about your beloved pets, I would go elsewhere !
Unfortunately our fur baby had to have an operation. Animal and friends took a load of stress off us when it came to paying the bill. We paid it upfront and then animal friends returned the claim availability within a couple of days.
I cannot revue yet as i have had no dealings with them yet my puppy is only 2 in feb and i only joined in december , january my puppie hasnt been sick or injured so ill come bsck when i have had an experiance with frienda pet insurance
