🛑 stop!! 🛑 My advice Please do not use Animal Trust Vets Rhyl !! I took my boy in yesterday for suspected IVDD (paralysed rear legs) we arrived at 10:30 am and was taken in for consultation at 10:50am first words from the vet was is he insured? (She had already wrote him off) she then proceeded to pin prik his rear end to confirm he had no feeling in his rear legs. We shared our concerns about his hot ears and head and was told that is because he is in pain (no temperature check?) we shared our concerns of him not having drank for almost 24hours and she pulled up the skin on his neck and said he is hydrated enough! (No further check) she told us he is in pain he would be given 2 injections one is for inflammation and one is for pain. The one for pain is opiate based and that is the only information we was given on that. Now upon reading it this drug can cause respiratory problems!! He was given the injections and we was out of the practice by 11:10. We was given another appointment for the following day to see how he is doing and in that time we was given some other medication to give him after the 24hours was up this didn’t make sense why would they prescribe medication for after the 24hours but insist we make the payment of £122 then for it? On the way home (10minute drive) he began to pant quite heavy and we assumed he is just becoming uncomfortable with everything going on so we got home he was placed on his bed and his panting got incredibly worse so we phoned the vets back and explained what’s happening time is now 11:50am. We was told to rush him back which we did and when we arrived he was taken in and we was told he is experiencing some kind of heat stroke and his temperature is 41+ and his oxygen levels had dropped. They got his temp down but then he started with convulsions so We was unfortunately given no other option but to have our boy put to sleep. We are in so much shock at this point We are emotionally broken we brought our happy healthy boy minus his back legs to the vet for help and feel we made the wrong decision in doing so! This was chases first and last visit ever to a vets and this is not just to pass the blame the vet herself has held up her hands to say she did not do the checks she should have done and if she did chase may never have received those injections. They said they would squash the charge for the euthanasia of our boy and is that their way of an apology? We have so many questions and no answers. Again this is not to discredit the whole practice as I’m sure they have helped many but how many others are out there that this vet has made mistakes on? I want answers!! RIP chasey boi ❤️
