Terrible

Terrible. Bolton branch. I have been a customer for quite some years with 2 different pets. They have gone downhill. I recently took my cat in after he wasn’t eating and was lethargic and wouldn’t let me touch him. I advised vet he also had a lump on his neck. They tried to fob me off with buying metacam and some meds to give him an appetite which was not sorting the problem at all it was covering it up, he clearly needed some examinations. My option was 1) take him home with random medications 2) pay £695 to have him hospitalised and checked out. No inbetween. I chose the latter, in my opinion there was no other option given. Whilst he was hospitalised I was met with excuse after excuse from 1 particular vet as to why they hadn’t done things they were supposed to do which I’d paid for I might add! There was no morning update phone call as promised, so I arranged to go and see my cat in branch later that day. He looked an absolute mess when I arrived and I asked what had been done. Drugged up to his eyeballs. The vet was so dismissive and I was met with all the excuses, being short staffed is not my problem as a paying customer I expect a service that I paid for and proper care for my cat. If you can’t deliver don’t take animals in your care. I asked the vet have you checked that lump on his neck, she denied the lump! I literally had to argue with this vet about it and demand it got checked. A lovely vet called the next day from the morning shift and turns out it was an abscess that she had since drained and put him on intravenous antibiotics. I dread to think what would have happened had I of not gone up there and pushed and demanded! I would say he had the start of sepsis as he had raised temperature, infection (shown in bloods), no appetite and no other findings from their scans. Absolutely disgusting that she would not listen and check. They also cut his beautiful whiskers very short for absolutely no reason, they could have moved them out the way so easily. I am disgusted with the way they have also treated my concerns. So disappointed and currently trying to nurse my poor boy back to health at home. Fobbed off when raising concerns after. Do better Animal Trust.
