Our dog was medicated for allergies since being born. Never once was she offered a routine blood test in her life. We requested one to be done to check her as she was throwing up severely. Turned out she had renal displasia and her kidneys were severely deformed causing them to not work properly. So when we thought we was dealing with skin problems because of her allergies, her food was actually poisoning her this whole time resulting in the skin flare ups. Anyway, the vet refused to diagnose her without us paying thousands for more tests… when he actually admitted on the phone and told us that there is nothing he can do for her and there’s nothing he can give her to repair the kidneys. we took her for a 2nd opinion elsewhere and it resulted in my beautiful girl being put to sleep.. she just rocketed within a few days of animal trust having her in their care. Each to their own experience with these vets. All my other animals have been transferred elsewhere. I’m not saying my girl could of survived what she had as they are trying to say it was heredity- without evidence. but we could of known about it a lot sooner than we did. She as been medicated all her life and was pts at the age of 3. She is still a baby herself. The vets should make it mandatory for dogs that are medicated for life to have routine blood tests which is something my dog was never offered and I feel she was failed. They litterally waited till she was 3 to tell me I can put her on a healthy dog plan and it would reduce her medication- when I’ve been paying full price for 3 years. How stupid. They only have your answers when your lining their pockets… and they call themselves charity based. My dog was left to rot with a kidney problem. May she rest in peace, now finally not irritated with her life.
