I normally never write reviews, and I’m not someone who likes to complain, but what happened to me at A Post Ushers Quey was so unacceptable that I feel people need to be aware of it.Earlier this year, I went to this post office to renew my passport. I was in the middle of preparing for my Leaving Cert mocks and had very limited time, so I depended on the staff to handle the application properly. When I arrived, the first thing I noticed was how disorganized the entire area behind the counter was. Packages were scattered across the floor, piles of letters were stacked messily, and the general environment looked unhygienic and completely unprofessional. Despite my concerns, I handed over my passport because I trusted that a post office would have some level of order and responsibility.Months passed, and because I was so focused on studying, I didn’t have the mental space to think about my passport. It wasn’t until May that I realized I had never received it back. I went to the post office to ask what happened, and that’s when the real frustration began. The staff were dismissive from the moment I explained the situation. Instead of trying to look into what happened or offer any assistance, they immediately blamed the postman and insisted that it wasn’t their fault. But considering the chaotic state of the workspace when I first handed over my passport, it’s honestly no surprise that something so important could get lost. Their attitude made it clear they didn’t care what happened once an item left their hands. The person who originally handled my passport and especially the older man in charge were extremely rude throughout the entire interaction. There was no apology, no sympathy, and no attempt to take responsibility. The old man practically tossed a form at me, told me to fill it in, and walked away as if he couldn’t be bothered dealing with a customer who had just lost an essential and expensive document because of their negligence.Because my passport never arrived, I ended up losing around €600 in total — money I had already spent on summer flights, hotel reservations, and concert tickets. I had to cancel everything because I didn’t have a passport anymore. That alone was devastating, especially as a student who saved up for those plans.I submitted the lost item form they gave me, hoping that at the very least I would receive compensation or some sort of follow-up. But even now, months later, I haven’t received any refund, update, or explanation. I’m still waiting, with no idea what’s taking so long. The entire process has been exhausting and stressful.I didn’t want to post a negative review because I genuinely don’t like causing trouble or complaining publicly, but what happened here is simply unacceptable. Losing someone’s passport is already extremely serious, but the lack of responsibility, the disrespectful attitude of the staff, the complete absence of an apology, and the disorganized state of the workspace make this experience one of the worst I’ve ever had with any service.I truly hope no one else has to go through what I did. If you care about your documents, your time, or your peace of mind, I would strongly advise choosing a different An Post office for anything important. This location has cost me months of stress, hundreds of euros, and an overwhelming amount of frustration — all because they could not manage something as simple and essential as handling a passport safely.
