A&O hostel Berlin Mitte My family and I arrived the 8th of July and found the room to be very dirty. We took pictures and contacted the reception. There was only one employee at work at the bar and reception at the same time. There was two people in line at the bar before me. Then a asked the bartender/receptionist to help me. She asked me to Waite for here to handle the two people standing in the bar line behind me. So I waited a bit and she then decided to serve a third bar guest. I told her that I could not wait any longer because we needed to find dinner for our daughter. And I told her that I would contact the reception when we got back. When we got back she told me that the issue was resolved and that house keeping had clean the room and gave me 4 drink tickets for the inconvenience. We then went to the room and found the only thing cleaned was the black mold in the shower. Nothing else. I now for the third time contacted the reception now having the time to show them the pictures and explaining that we would like to have or room properly cleaned or change to a clean room. The receptionist told me that we could check out at 10 and leave our belongings in the reception and the check in at 15. I told him that that is not acceptable because we paid for the room and would need to have access to a room before we see the new room to make sure it’s clean. He said that he could give us and early check in but have to pay 14 euro’s. I told him that it’s unacceptable to offer me that solution and that I expect to be compensated for the inconvenience and not paying even more money that I already payed. He then asked me to go to the reception in the morning where the manager will be at work. The next morning I again for the 4th time contacted the reception and was for the first time met by a person offering to find a solution. She suggested to walk me to a room so I could see if it was clean. This room was in a better condition but the floor was still dirty and needed to get cleaned. I asked if the house keeping could just clean our room and the we didn’t need to pack and unpack. She wrote all the issues down and saw all the pictures. We went on with our day and came back to the hotel before lunch. The room was not cleaned but there were new towels, toilet paper and the trash was taken out. We naively thought that the room would be cleaned when we came back. It was not. The bed wasn’t even made. So now we are looking forward to the second night in a dirty room. And a 5th visit to the reception.
