Very poor and misleading experience.
I made a booking because it clearly showed free cancellation, but after canceling within the allowed time, no refund was issued.
I contacted support multiple times and spent a lot of time following up, but nothing was resolved. This feels misleading and unfair.

I would not recommend this place based on how they handle cancellations and refunds. Be very careful before booking.
Everything about this hostel is frustrating. You pay the same as at other places but have to make your own bed, no towels provided, and there's always noise at night. Everyone in my room shares the same negative feelings about this hostel. I'm really glad I only booked two nights and will be moving to a different place tomorrow.
INFESTED WITH BED BUGS! Our family vacation was cut short, and we’ve experienced a NIGHTMARE for the past 10 days since our stay at the location. The customer service has been unhelpful! They only offered to cover the cost of washing our clothes at home. NO refund. NO compensation! No assistance, even though the bugs have made their way into our car! We are anxious about whether they have entered our home as well, despite taking all precautions. I have never felt this level of disappointment and neglect from customer service. How could they treat us this way?
beds dirty, dirty tissues on beds and used cotton buds hidden in the sheets and bed were had to be made ourselves. clogged drain, dirty toilet and broken bunk bed.Windowsill dirty and stained , sticky mystery liquids on mattress that wasnt cleaned just flipped although nice staff
Seen many negative reviews, i would like to share my experience with A&O Berlin, I never had any issues with staff or guests. Rooms are always clean and tidy, prices are absurdly low.I've stayed in Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Berlin Kolumbus, Berlin Mitte, i've had zero issues at all the places.Slept a total of 3 weeks in all the different locations it was honestly great.
FILLED WITH BED BUGS! Had to cut our famililyvacation short, and have had a NIGHTMARE'ISH 10 days since our visit at A@o sydhavnen. The costumer service is no help! They offered to pay for our washing of clothes at home. NO refund. NO compensation! No help, even though we now have the bugs in the car! We are dreading, if they have gone into our house also, even though we've done everything to avoid it. I have never been so disappointed and felt so ignore and not met from the costumerservice. How dare they.
Before making this, I did send Them a e-mail but they Never Went back to me. The hotel in Nørrebro was dirty, the television didnt work and the shower was cold or to hot to use. A night we went for 1 drink at the hotel before headning to bed. After ordering by the app, we waited 20 mins and nothing happend. I went to the bar and be removed some paper from the tablet. When we finally Got the drinks he Said “ Sorry its my first time making it”. U cant even Call it a drink, we couldnt even drink Them. I went up and asked if we could swap Them to beers as it wasnt right, but NO. Terrible stay after all. Never coming back.
A&O hostel is corrupt with rude, disrespectful, dishonest, lazy staff!If you request a lower bunk bed, they will ignore your request for many hours, violate all health and safety regulations, expect you to make up your own bed on a top bunk bed, treat you like a free cleaner, downgrade you to a different room, scam you out of your money and when you complain about their corrupt behaviour, they will ban you! A bunch of evil violating sociopaths!
I would give ZERO if I could. My 16 year old daughter wanted to stay at A&O. Aware that she is a minor, she responsibly called their info-line and asked whether she would be allowed to. Yes, they said. The only thing you need is a parental consent form and a photocopy of the parent's passport. Same info under FAQ. So we went with that and paid for a bed in a female dorm. And guess what - once you print off the parental consent form (in a link, content not visible immediately), it says ON THERE that minors are only allowed to stay in single rooms (at 5 times the cost)! A&O says I should have known - HOW???? and won't refund and offers that an adult can go instead. Unhelpful to the extreme and deceitful too. After being gaslit this morning by their customer service saying "my daughter must have misunderstood" I called another representative and asked whether there is any info on minors staying on their own other than the FAQs. Twice. The respresentative said "no". I asked whether there is anything else important to consider before booking a room - answer "no". Guess what - no mention of minors only allowed in single rooms. When I then told the representative she sheepishly admitted that, yes, there is that. It is a rip-off and really, really cheap of A&O. The whole cost of the stay was 2x 30 EUR, maybe not much for A&O but my daugher paid from her pocket money and that really hit. Plus it was the first time that she organised something herself and feels, rightly so, totally duped. Shame on you.
