I wish companies would stop using this service

My recent experience involved ordering some trading cards internationally from a seller that uses this service. I got an email confirming shipment, but five days later, the only update was that a label had been created. Meanwhile, some peers in my country received their items. I emailed the seller, and they just told me to wait. Eventually, the website updated to show my shipment was picked up and sent. Fast forward a week—my order is in the country but stuck at customs. They can't clear it for delivery and have been trying to contact the 'receiver or importer,' but I haven't heard anything. Previously, my package was delayed for days, and UPS even came to my apartment for more information because the service was unresponsive. International shipping is expensive, and it would be nice to receive items when expected.
