I eventually discovered there are two entirely different customer care teams: One for Spanish residents and another one for international citizens with a friendly team of native English agents. I'm sharing the number here, so other people don't fall into the same confusion I did initially. Phone number for international (non Spanish) citizens is +34 91 200 0 200 I'm ever so delighted with the service. The customer care team is friendly and approachable, especially Olivia. Also, the 24 hour emergency line connects directly to English speaking doctors who helped me manage when I was suffering from chest pains at 2am. I'm not fluent in Spanish so they arranged for an Ambulance to find my (complicated) home address and take me to the hospital. Luckily everything turned out fine but I don't know if I would have managed so well without their support that night. Very grateful for this new service, helps so much to have this when you are not a fluent Spanish speaker in Spain.
