I switched from Verizon to AT&T through a Costco promotion, and the experience has been extremely disappointing. I was told during the process that AT&T would pay off both my final Verizon bill and my devices. However, after completing the transfer, I was informed that they would only cover the device balance—and that it would take 8–10 weeks to receive a prepaid card to do so.
It has now been nearly two months since I made the switch. During this time, I was advised to pay off a $1,000+ Verizon bill out of pocket, with the promise that I would later receive $645 toward the device balance. Meanwhile, I continue to receive delinquency notices from Verizon.
This has been one of the worst decisions I’ve made regarding a service provider. The lack of transparency and the financial burden placed on me have been unacceptable. Based on this experience, I strongly believe Costco should reconsider promoting this offer.
