I want to share my personal experience to help other international buyers. I ordered a bulk shipment of shuttles from overseas (10 cartons, 50 tubes each) and paid extra for shipping insurance. When the shipment arrived, 6 out of the 10 cartons were damaged — some were severely affected, while others had issues despite appearing intact on the outside. Here’s what I encountered: 1. Packaging was inadequate for export standards. The cartons were very basic: No foam No dividers No top padding All the tubes were packed tightly against each other, which meant the product bore the weight directly instead of being protected by the carton. 2. Uneven stacking inside the boxes (6 tubes in one row, 5 in another) This created empty spaces inside the box. During shipping, the pressure seemed to target the tube lids and feather tips. Even if the tubes appear fine initially, this packing style can lead to hidden damage that may manifest later as breakage or odd flight patterns. 3. Paid for insurance but never received a policy “Insurance” was a separate charge on the invoice. However, despite repeated inquiries, I never received: Any policy number Any certificate Any details about the underwriter 4. Communication dwindled after I shared photos Initially, they requested pictures. Then I was instructed to test each shuttle at a club and count failures, which didn’t align with standard shipping or insurance practices. When I sought official insurance documents or compensation again, responses ceased. 5. I made a mistake paying by wire transfer Since it was a direct wire payment, there was: No escrow No dispute resolution option No buyer protection So for those new to importing: wire transfers leave you vulnerable if issues arise. If you’re contemplating a purchase, I recommend using Trade Assurance or another escrow-protected payment method instead of direct wiring. General advice for importing shuttles: Request export-grade packaging in writing (strong cartons, padding, proper stacking) Avoid wire transfers unless you have a long-standing relationship with the supplier Utilize escrow-type payments whenever feasible Be wary of very low prices — they may indicate corners cut on packaging, insurance, or support For some clubs, sourcing from domestic suppliers might actually be more economical in the long run when considering risk and replacement issues. I’m not implying wrongdoing — just sharing my experience so that other international buyers can be better informed. If anyone else has imported shuttles and had a different (or similar) experience, I’d love to hear about it. Posting this solely for awareness.
