Been flying with "Asia's Boutique Airline" for 20 years, mostly between Samui and Bangkok but I've flown to many other domestic and international routes with them, and standards have been dropping for a good while. As far as Samui goes, it mainly coincided with the time Samui airport was greatly expanded. Recurring issues....poor ground experience at Samui (long check-in lines and impolite/ineffective staff), aircraft interiors are tired and look worn out. Good aspects - good cabin crew, above par on-board food, free checked bag and seat selection. However, at nearly 12,000 baht for a round trip BKK-USM you're paying a lot for it given Thai wages are nowhere near those of the Western carriers. For me, AirAsia is comparable and at a somewhat cheaper cost, adjusted for baggage and food costs. Their aircraft are also less dated. But PG own the airport at Samui so we're stuck with them there. PG's claim to be a "Boutique Airline' is questionable. It was back in 2000-2010 period but isn't really true anymore imo and they're trading on past glories.
