Why this 👇 question? Vehicle type?Petrol/dieselElectricHybridI just want to go shopping & what kind of car I drive is, surely, none of your business. It's data harvesting and a breach of data protection laws I would have paid cash butthe cash option machine was out of order. There were 20 people waiting to pay and hardly anyone's transaction went smoothly. Some didn't know how to do it. My first try with a card the card was refused even though I went into Waitrose afterwards and it was fine. It took me 15 minutes to purchase my parking ticket. I went and complained to Waitrose who's supermarket adjoined this big car park they told me that their numbers of customers were down and that they had had many many complaints. They even had a slip which they gave me a ready made thing telling me where to complain. There was one lady not that much older than me I am 63 who didn't know how to use the machine at all, I had return to the machines to take pictures of the out of order machines and of the vehicle type question, I had to help her this was not a isolated event. Some people I saw were confused and some cross and since there was only one bank of machines for the entire car park, there was a constant queue and if you were to park the other side of the car park you would have to walk quite a long way in order to get your ticket. The disabled machine was out of order as well. Even if all the machines were working I object to having to enter all this data in order to just pay to park to go shopping. It is particularly egregious to be asked what kind of car I drive this is nothing to do with the task in hand which is to pay for a parking ticket or is it? Going into the future are there plans for this kind of data to be used and to differentiate parking charges between petrol diesel and electric and hybrid cars I wonder? The whole thing was unnecessary and dystopian it's not necessary to have this degree of control over people just because they want to park their car.The car park in question is at Burgess Hill Sussex.
