*UPDATE 2/27/25 - I did finally receive a refund check and it has cleared the bank. *UPDATE 1/17/25 - Bare Necessities reached out to me today and indicated they could and would issue me a refund check by mail but that it would take 4-6 weeks for me to receive the check. I will provide an update if and when I receive the check. Bare Necessities is a retail store selling women's undergarments, swimwear, sleep wear, etc. I made an online purchase of swimwear. The swimwear did not fit so I started an online return for a refund back to my original payment method which was on my American Express credit card. I shipped the merchandise back to Bare Necessities according to the online instructions. Bare Necessities acknowledged receipt of the returned merchandise via email dated 10/22/24 which indicated they received my return, that it was now at their store, and that they would process it and send me my refund. The email states that they will refund me immediately after they process the return and that it takes up to 10 business days for my financial institution to post it to my account. Today is 1/16/25 and I still have not received my refund. I initially, back in the fall of 2024, submitted an online inquiry regarding the status of my refund and did not receive a response. I then called the Bare Necessities customer service number (877-728-9272) some time I believe in late October or early November, 2024, at which time I was advised that they were having some sort of IT issue and were trying to get it fixed and that they could not tell me when it would be fixed so that they could process my refund. They recommended I call back the following week to follow-up. I then performed a Google search on the company and reviews and saw that many others also had returned their merchandise and had not received their refund or were having other issues. I then called American Express to see if I could dispute payment but, unfortunately, I was already past the 30 day window where American Express could assist. I contacted Bare Necessities customer service number (877-728-9272) again on 1/7/25 and spoke with "Asari" and she told me the technical issue still was not fixed where they could refund my original payment method (American Express) but that she could offer me a store credit or an online/virtual Mastercard. I asked if they could issue my refund by check and I was told no which is interesting since I see in another review on this site that someone did eventually receive their refund via check. I further inquired about the online/virtual Mastercard and was told that is something I could receive immediately. But after further discussion Asari said she only had authority to immediately issue a store credit and that if I wanted the online/virtual Mastercard or to see about other refund options she would have to escalate the call to someone else. I asked her to escalate the call and she told me she would escalate it and have someone call me. It has now been 9 days since that call and I have yet to receive a call back about my refund options other than a store credit which I do not want. So Bare Necessities has their merchandise back and also still has my payment for that merchandise going on almost 3 months now.
